Is enclomiphene legal in the U.S.?
Medically reviewed byClay Buchanan, MD·Last reviewed September 2026
Enclomiphene can be prescribed by our physician as a patient-specific compounded preparation when clinically appropriate. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality.
What "compounded" means
A 503A pharmacy prepares a medication for one patient based on an individual prescription. That is a category of pharmacy practice, not an FDA approval.
What to ask your clinician
Ask about the legal basis, the monitoring plan, and what the labs will show. A good clinician answers plainly.
Frequently asked
Is compounded the same as counterfeit?
No. Compounding is a regulated pharmacy practice. It is simply not the same as an FDA-approved manufactured drug.
