FAQ
Getting care
Is the assessment really free?
Yes. The assessment is free, and you’re only charged for medication if your clinician prescribes it. Plans renew automatically until you cancel — cancel online anytime before your next renewal. See plan terms.
What if I’m not prescribed anything?
You pay nothing. Your clinician will explain why and may suggest next steps.
Can I use insurance?
No. StemNovaMD is cash-pay and we don’t bill insurance. Prices are shown upfront, and there are no separate membership fees.
Which states do you serve?
Texas and Florida today. If you live elsewhere, you can join the waitlist and we’ll notify you when we expand.
Do I need labs?
For hormone and testosterone care, yes. For hair and sexual health, usually not. Your clinician orders labs when they’re clinically useful.
Do I need a video visit?
Yes. Every patient has a video visit with a licensed clinician before any prescription, and at least once every 12 months. Our physician, Dr. Buchanan, reviews every visit before prescribing. It’s included in your plan price.
Who prescribes my medication?
Clay Buchanan, MD, our Medical Director, licensed in Texas and Florida. He reviews your video evaluation and history and prescribes only if treatment is appropriate.
Are compounded medications FDA-approved?
No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality. We label compounded status on every medication.
Can I cancel?
Yes, online anytime from your account. A longer plan never guarantees continued treatment or refills.
Is my information private?
Yes. Your health information is protected under HIPAA. We share it only as needed to provide your care, such as with your pharmacy and lab, and we never sell it. See our Notice of Privacy Practices.
FAQ
Medications & safety
What does StemNovaMD offer?
Prescription medications only, for hair loss, sexual health, hormones and healthy aging. We don’t offer procedures, in-clinic treatments or cell-based therapies.
Are your medications FDA-approved?
Some are FDA-approved generic medications. Others are patient-specific compounded preparations, which are not FDA-approved or evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Every medication page states its classification clearly.
What is a compounded medication?
A compounded medication is prepared by a licensed pharmacy for an individual patient based on a prescription. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. They are prepared when an FDA-approved product is not available or appropriate for a patient.
Where do medications come from?
Prescriptions are filled by licensed pharmacies, including licensed compounding pharmacies where applicable. We are not a pharmacy or a drug manufacturer.
What if I have a side effect?
Stop and seek care if you have a serious reaction — call 911 for emergencies. For non-urgent effects, message your care team or use our report-a-side-effect page so your clinician can respond.
